we want to let you know jim vance will be joining us live from charlotte coming on news4 right here at 5:00 and 6:00 tonight. did you see it 9 first lady's speech has been the talk of the day. joining us is whur's millette green. you stayed up to see it. >> i did. >> very personal. what was your favorite part? >> i am like the typical whur listener, a hohn ownership, a parent, someone who's taken a hit. she was able to strike a chord like never before that she and her president are like middle-class americans, when she talked about children and how she loves her children and the president puts their family first. we all know that they have done a great job as parents. that really struck the emotional chord with so many of our listeners, talking about the limitless possibilities making that happen for our children. it was excellent.
4:06 pm
>> let's listen to a portion of that that you described just now. >> because today i know from experience that if i truly want to leave a better world for my daughters, and for all of our sons and daughters, if we want to give all of our children a foundation for their dreams and opportunities worthy of their promise, if we want to give them that sense of limitless possibility, their belief that here in america there is always something better out there. if you're willing to work for it, then we must work like never before. >> she got that floor fired up. a lot of emotion in that room last night. what was the reaction from your listeners? >> our listeners say she blew it out of the ballpark, whether you're a democrat or republican, it doesn't matter, michelle obama revealed herself as a
4:07 pm
superstar for the democrats. whur listeners are savvy. it's not all about a love-fest for barack obama. you have the undecided voters and those who feel apathetic, the undecided voters. they like the obamas, they love the first family. they even love the dog bo, but does that translate, that likability factor translate into trusting the president? then you have those apathetic voters hit hard in this economic climate and who feel like, hey, i don't need to show up to vote, what does it matter to me? jim, you have some 16,000 people in the district of columbia eligible to vote, not registered. that problem holds true in those key battleground states. our lynners say she delivered, energized those groups. >> a lot of your listeners and tweeters -- she's become a fashion eischen. what did they have to say about that part of the speech?
4:08 pm
>> oh, what didn't they say? she ply it out of the ballpark, that fuchsia dress with the gray and michelle obama has, of course, inspired so many of us to take a risk and wear sleeveless, but one thing that our savvy listeners took away from that, designer tracy reese from detroit, there is a long road from detroit to fashion week in new york or the runways in millan, and if a tracy reese can make, if a michelle obama can make it, that appeals to minorities, to women, to business owners. >> and reese tweeted out a big thanker, how honored she was. what about concert tickets tomorrow and office visits. >> bill bellamy and anthony anderson, two huge comedians coming to town, we're giving
